ICT @ TWS

One of my first jobs as the ICT coordinator was to create an ICT plan. [Evidence 5]

Since then, the attitude for technology at the school has changed enormously and I have systematically implemented the targeted initiatives. I was very mindful about how my colleagues would take these changes., I created a friendly and receptive environment and my colleagues understood that all questions were welcome. Staff were happy and comfortable to approach technology as a step forward, instead of something scary they did not understood. [Evidence 8

I volunteered for this leadership role because I could see that there was scope for me to extend my existing leadership skills with my colleagues, supporting them to embed quality pedagogy including technology into their teaching practice. All classes are mixed ability groups and I work alongside staff to support them to accommodate, adapt and modify all lessons to engage and cater for the diverse student cohort. Using technology is one key to create and establish engagement in classes. I use a combination of auditory, visual, physical and kinaesthetic teaching methods. This diverse approach ensures that students are provided with a variety of ways to learn. Recognising that students respond and engage best to a number of shorter more targeted activities in each lesson I have devised and shared a number of easy but highly motivating and engaging student activities. Teachers have commented that the activities reduce off-task behaviours and achieve curriculum objectives, keeping students highly engaged at the same time.

Evidence 1:
The Woden school has created a very dynamic environment where technology has impacted our student's positive behaviours, engagement and positive learning outcomes. Here is a short video of these processes.

I have initiated and created many opportunities to share my experiences and knowledge with my colleagues by organising and delivering in house training session in the use of Interactive white boards, one on one coaching and state level training sessions with a positive and contemporary focus on student engagement. I have also shared all my resources on the “G” Drive so the whole school can have access to these resources.

Evidence 9: This is a funny video I created to show how helpful the ICT guy can be at our school

I led my school in the implementation of the use of iPads and smart whiteboards as a teaching tool. I have designed classes for all students and created a shared folder where every teacher can access these activities to use across the school and across the curriculum.
Late 2012 I saw the need to establish a designated a multimedia computer lab. After some strategic negotiating with my Principal. I have established an Apple computer Lab for our students to express their creativity. Since then, students have worked enthusiastically to design and develop a 2013 year book ready for publication later this semester. It is rewarding to see students at our school take on a leadership role in such a complex publication task - a ground breaking initiative for our school.

Throughout the school a number of staff have initiated and delivered, audio visual projects as they increase and develop their own technology skills. We are now in the process of developing a Short Film Festival and we hope to turn this project into a state wide initiative that will elevate our school profile within our community.

I supervised many ASBA students and have led, mentored and supported them to become part of the  team. I lead and manage this team so that together we can provide support and leadership to our school community to successfully achieve our goals. I consistently develop new strategies to support the curriculum in an approachable way.
